Questions
Straight answers, no hedging.
Everything owners actually ask us about the audit, the build, ownership, AI search, and what happens after launch.
Do I need a brand new website, or can you fix my current one?+
Start with the free audit and we will tell you honestly. Some sites need a rebuild because the structure works against being found and getting calls. Others need targeted fixes. The audit shows you which one you are, with a prioritized list, before you spend money on a rebuild.
What is the audit and what do I get?+
A plain-English review of where your website loses customers before they call, a check of whether AI search tools can understand your business, a competitor snapshot, and a prioritized fix list. You get a written report and a short video walkthrough in 2 to 3 business days, at no cost.
Why do you start with an audit instead of just building?+
Because you should be able to prove the work before you commit to a rebuild. The audit shows you exactly what is costing you calls and which fix matters first. If a full build is not the right move, we will tell you.
Is the audit really free? What is the catch?+
Yes, the audit is free, and there is no catch. We do it for free because we would rather earn the build by showing you useful work first than charge for a report. You are under no obligation to buy anything afterward.
After the audit, am I obligated to buy a build?+
No. The audit is a complete first step on its own. You get the report and the fix list, and you decide what to do next. There is no obligation to continue.
How fast do I get the audit back?+
2 to 3 business days from the time we have your details. You receive a written report and a short video walkthrough so the findings are clear.
How much does a website cost?+
The standard custom build is $3,500. Founding clients pay $2,750. That is a one-time price for a fast, custom-coded website you fully own. The audit that comes first is free.
Why is it a one-time price instead of a monthly fee?+
Because you should own your website, not rent it. Many agencies charge $1,000 to $10,000 a month and you never own the result. We build it once, hand you the domain, code, hosting, and accounts, and you keep all of it.
Do you charge a monthly fee for anything?+
Not for the audit or the website itself. Some optional services like AI lead-response, monthly monitoring, and rescue work are available later by invitation, once your site is live and working. We do not bundle them in or require them.
Are there ongoing costs after launch?+
You will have normal costs you own directly, like your domain renewal (around $15 a year) and hosting, which is often free or low cost on the platform we use. We set these up in your name so you control them and there are no markups through us.
Is there a contract or lock-in?+
No lock-in. You own everything in writing. We hold access only to help you, never to trap you. If you want to take your site and work with someone else, you can, because it is already yours.
What if I cannot afford the full build right now?+
Start with the free audit. It shows you what is costing you calls and which single fix is worth making first. You can act on the findings yourself or come back for the build when you are ready.
How long does a custom website take to build?+
Most builds take 10 to 21 business days from the time we have your information and access. The free audit comes first and takes 2 to 3 business days.
What do you need from me to start?+
Your business details, the services and areas you cover, your phone number and hours, any reviews, licenses, and warranties you want shown, and whatever photos you have. We guide you through exactly what is needed so nothing stalls the build.
What does the process look like, step by step?+
Four clear steps. Audit: we find what is costing you calls, free. Build: we design, build, check, and prepare your site. Launch: we connect your forms, calls, and search tools and hand it all to you. Review: we document what changed, before and after.
How involved do I need to be during the build?+
Less than you might expect. We need your information up front and a review at key points. We do the building, checking, and setup. Your time is spent approving, not managing.
Can I see the site before it goes live?+
Yes. You review the site before launch and we make agreed changes. Nothing goes live until you have seen it and it passes our pre-launch checklist.
What if I want changes during the build?+
Changes within the agreed scope are part of the process. We build, you review, we adjust. If you want to add something beyond the original scope, we will tell you clearly before doing it.
Do I own the website after it is built?+
Yes. You own the domain, the code, the hosting project, and every account, in writing. We hold access to help you, never to lock you in.
Who owns the domain and the hosting?+
You do. We set up the domain and hosting in your name and hand you the logins. You are never renting your own website from us.
What happens if we stop working together?+
You keep everything. The site, the code, the domain, the hosting, and the accounts are already yours. Any developer can pick it up and keep working on it. There is nothing to claw back.
Can I edit the site myself later?+
Your site is custom-coded for speed and for being found, which is different from a drag-and-drop builder. For most owners we handle content changes quickly, and because you own the code, any developer can edit it too. During handoff we document exactly how it works so you are never dependent on one person.
What do I actually receive at handoff?+
The live website, ownership of the domain, code, and hosting project, access to your search tools, your structured data setup, and a clear written walkthrough of what you own and how it works.
Will this get me to the top of Google?+
We build your site so Google can read every page and understand your service area, which is the foundation ranking is built on. We do not promise a specific position, because no honest company can. What we control is the structure, speed, and clarity that give you the best chance to rank and to get found.
What is AI search, and why does it matter for my business?+
More customers now ask tools like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity for recommendations instead of scrolling links. If those tools cannot understand your business, they recommend a competitor and you never know you lost the job. We build your site so AI tools can clearly read who you are, what you do, and where.
What is GEO, or getting found in ChatGPT?+
GEO stands for generative engine optimization. It means structuring your website and content so AI search tools can find, trust, and cite your business when someone asks for a recommendation. It is the new layer on top of traditional search, and most local businesses have not done it yet.
What is AEO?+
AEO stands for answer engine optimization. It means building your website so that when someone asks a question, your business shows up as the direct answer, like the answer box at the top of Google or what a voice assistant reads out loud. In plain terms, it helps you become the answer people get, instead of just one more link they have to dig through.
What is the difference between AEO and GEO?+
They are closely related, and every build does both. AEO (answer engine optimization) is about being the direct answer to a question, like the box at the top of Google or what a voice assistant reads back. GEO (generative engine optimization) is about being found, trusted, and recommended inside AI tools like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity when they write an answer for someone. The simplest way to think about it: AEO helps you win the quick answer, and GEO helps you get named when an AI makes a recommendation.
Will customers find me when they search for my trade near them?+
That is exactly what the build is structured for. We create clear pages for what you do and the areas you serve, mark them up so search engines and AI tools understand them, and make the path from search to a call obvious. Results in search build over the weeks after launch as your pages get indexed.
How does the site help with Google Maps and my Google Business Profile?+
Your website and your Google Business Profile are read together as one business. We make sure your name, address, phone, services, and service areas on the site match your profile exactly, which builds the consistency Google needs to show you in the map results.
How long until I see results in search?+
Speed, structure, and a working lead path are live the day your site launches. Search and AI visibility build over the following weeks as pages get indexed and trusted, typically starting to show in 4 to 8 weeks. We document the before and after so you can see what changed.
Do you guarantee rankings or a number of leads?+
No, and you should be careful with anyone who does. We guarantee a clear diagnosis and a site built correctly for being found and getting calls. Rankings and lead volume depend on your market, your reviews, and time, which no honest company controls outright.
How does the site actually get me more calls?+
It loads fast so people do not leave, puts your phone number and a call button where they are easy to reach, shows your reviews and licenses so people trust you, and makes the next step obvious. Being found is half the job. Turning that visitor into a call is the other half, and we build for both.
What is a lead capture path?+
It is the clear, working route from a visitor landing on your site to them calling or sending their details. A tap-to-call button, a short form, and proof placed where it removes hesitation. Most local sites have none of this, which is where calls are lost.
Does the site work well on phones?+
Yes, and that is the priority. Most of your customers are on a phone, often in a hurry. We build mobile first with a fast load, a tap-to-call button, and buttons sized for a thumb.
Can customers call or book directly from the site?+
Yes. A tap-to-call button connects straight to your phone, and we can connect a booking link where your business books online. The goal is the fewest possible steps between interest and contact.
How fast will my website be?+
Fast on every phone, which matters because visitors leave sites that take more than a few seconds to load. Speed is one of the items on our pre-launch checklist that every site must pass before it goes live.
What is structured data or schema, and why do I need it?+
Structured data is code that tells search engines and AI tools, in their own language, who you are, what you do, where you work, and what people think of you. Without it, machines have to guess. We add it to every page so your business is read clearly.
Is my website secure?+
Yes. Every site runs on HTTPS with a valid security certificate, which protects your visitors and is expected by both browsers and search engines. Security basics are part of how every site is built.
What do you build on, and can my own web person maintain it?+
We build custom-coded sites hosted on a fast modern platform, with your search tools connected. Because you own the code and the accounts, any competent developer can maintain or extend it. We hand over documentation so it is not a black box.
Will AI tools actually be able to read my site?+
Yes, and we build for it deliberately. Many AI tools cannot read sites that depend on heavy scripting to show their content. We serve clean, readable pages with structured data so AI tools can understand your business when a customer asks.
Do you write the content, or do I?+
We write the content, built around what your customers actually search and ask, then you review it. You know your trade. We know how to put it on the page so it gets found and gets calls.
What about photos? I do not have professional ones.+
Real photos of your work and your team are best and we will use what you have. Where there are gaps, we have options to fill them so the site looks credible. Clear, honest images build more trust than polished stock.
How many pages do I get, and do I get pages for each service and city?+
Your build includes the pages that win jobs: a home page, clear pages for the services you offer, pages for the areas you serve, an about and proof page, and contact. Dedicated service and service-area pages are how you get found for what you do, where you do it.
What happens after the site launches?+
We connect your forms, calls, search tools, and structured data, then hand everything to you with a walkthrough. After that we document the before and after so the results are clear. Optional ongoing services are available later by invitation.
Do you offer maintenance or monitoring?+
Monthly monitoring and AI lead-response are available later, by invitation, once your site is live and working. We do not require them and we do not sell them before they would add real value.
What if something breaks after launch?+
Reach out and we will help. Because the site is built on a stable platform and handed over cleanly, breakages are rare, and you are never stuck waiting because you own all the access yourself.
Can you handle my AI lead response or chatbot later?+
Yes, when your website is live and working. AI lead-response that answers and routes after-hours questions is one of the highest-value additions for a service business, and we add it once the foundation is solid, not before.
What is the Clarity Guarantee?+
The audit is free and comes with no obligation, and we promise it will be useful. We commit to identifying at least three specific, fixable issues affecting your visibility, trust, speed, or lead capture. If your site is genuinely in good shape, we will tell you that plainly rather than invent problems to sell you a rebuild.
What if I am not happy with the result?+
You review the site before it goes live and we make agreed changes within scope until it is right. Nothing launches that you have not approved. We would rather get it right than rush it out.
You have no reviews yet. Why should I trust you?+
Fair question. That is exactly why the audit is free and comes with no obligation. You can see the quality of our thinking on your own business, at no cost and no risk, before you ever commit to a build, and you own everything we build.
Are you a real company, and where are you based?+
Yes. A Light in the Sky is based in Indianapolis, Indiana and serves businesses nationwide and remotely. You can reach us directly at admin@alitsky.com.
Do you only build websites for HVAC?+
No. We build for service businesses of all kinds. HVAC is where we started, and the same approach fits plumbing, roofing, electrical, salons, clinics, and other service businesses that live on calls, bookings, and quote requests.
Does this work for plumbing, roofing, electrical, and other trades?+
Yes. The way customers search, the speed they expect, and the way AI tools read a business are the same across service businesses. The site is structured to your specific business and service area.
Do you work with businesses outside Indianapolis?+
Yes. We are based in Indianapolis and work with service businesses across the country, remotely. Your website is built for your city and service area, wherever that is.
Still have a question?

The free audit answers most of them with your own website as the example.
No obligation. Just a clear, useful report.
